  • Red flags: Missing entirely from the CoA (common on sub-standard vendors).

4. HPIEC acetate counter-ion content

  • Method: High-performance ion-exchange chromatography measuring residual trifluoroacetate (TFA) or acetate counter-ions from the synthesis / purification step.

6. Appearance and solubility

  • Descriptive fields: Colour (typically white or off-white lyophilised powder), solubility profile (soluble in bacteriostatic water, DMSO, PBS depending on the peptide).
  • Why it matters: Discolouration or precipitation signals degradation.

7. Storage conditions and expiration

  • Descriptive fields: Storage temperature (typically 2–8 °C for reconstituted, −20 °C or below for long-term lyophilised), light protection, expiration date from date of manufacture.

How to spot a fabricated CoA

Institutional buyers should watch for these red flags:

  • No lab name or accreditation identifier on the CoA. Reputable vendors identify the third-party lab (LGC, SGS, Eurofins etc.) and include its ISO 17025 accreditation number.

  4. Stability data — accelerated stability data (typically 25 °C / 60% RH for 3 months) demonstrating the vendor's shelf-life claim.

Reputable vendors provide these on request within 24–48 hours; less reputable vendors either can't or won't.
